Observations on life & art and the inspirations I see around me

Lately.....

Mostly it's been work on the house taking up most of my time.  I did get some fabrics ironed to fusible a while back and have used evening tv time to cut circles. Tonight during the Oscars I fused Bull's eyes and "new" fabric from the scraps. It felt good to be working with fabric and starting something new.  The Bull's eyes are pictured on the dining table.  I'm not sure how they will be put together but this has been in my head for some time.

Have a good week everyone.

Moving Along

We had another week with ice and record cold. It wasn't all bad; it kept me home to get some work done in the studio.  This is Detour II.  I really need a new camera; the colors are much more intense than they look here.  I've started quilting and am thinking it will get some printing on top of that.

I worked on Roots & Routes and thought it had reached the hand off stage.  (This is the 3rd collaborative with Lu Peters). I put on the wall and after looking at it a couple of days I thought one area needed something. I'm auditioning additional roots; we'll decide if that's what it needs next week.  I just looked back; we started this last July.  Most of the delay has been on my part. I MUST work more to stay on track and task. That is a major goal of mine for 2011.
Last weekend in Austin we had sunshine and spent some time on Sat. at the park.  It was a treat.  I'm excited that we're expecting good weather tomorrow.  Karlie & her mom came up to visit today so we're meeting up with Tia Ashley & Tio Frank tomorrow and going to the zoo. Hope you have some fun too..

February Fresh

You really have to admire the bravery and fortitude of these little guys, besides I needed a picture for this post and they made me smile today.  I wished for a good camera to capture the dozen cardinals waiting in the drab tree branches for me to leave their buffet.  You'll just have to imagine how beautiful it was.

After starting off the new year with considerable excitement and enthusiasm, I fell into a multifaceted funk for most of Jan.  Nothing really horrible but grey & draggy is a good description. Things are better now and I am ready to start fresh.

Today I read that life has grey moments so that we appreciate the bright & content ones. I mostly agree but wish that our "learning experiences" didn't have to be such a drag some time.  I'm willing to try sunny beaches or exotic destinations. Oh well, travel always seems like a good idea this time of the year.

In the meantime it's very, very cold & icy here as it is in much of the country and we're staying safely  inside. I hope everyone stays safe & warm and makes time for inspiration, creativity, family & good food. Hopefully I'll be back soon with something bright to show.
