Season of Celebrations

Remember when birthdays were bouncy houses, lots of friends, and licking the icing when Mom wasn't looking.  Well maybe there weren't bouncy houses during my childhood but yesterday brought back memories of the fun of being 2 & 4.  We celebrated with Jack and his cousin Catherine, 2 of our favorite little people.  From there we joined friends to honor their daughter Maggie's graduation from UNT with honors. We'd held her the day she was born so it was a bit nostalgic seeing her grown up and heading off to graduate school.  Time certainly passes in a flash.
Today was much quieter but very enjoyable as I celebrated my day; no bouncy houses but flowers and lovely gifts and good wishes.  Karl, Ashley & Frank cooked a great lunch of Mexican shrimp cocktail, guacamole, fajitas, rice & beans.  I didn't get pictures of dessert as they were served quickly before Kathy & Phil had to rush back to Houston; believe me when I say Ashley's apple cake and key lime pie were lovely & extra special yummy. I managed a second serving this evening.  Thank you every one for a wonderful day.

Growing with Confidence.....

I was surfing around the web this evening and this made me smile.  http://whatwouldsummerwear.wordpress.com/2009/05/  I don't have the vast wardrobe of Iris Apfel but I aspire to have her confidence and sense of style. .

What keeps us moving forward?  Trying new things?  When do we loss the daring of youth?  I'm renewing my goal to keep growing with Iris and Karlie as inspirations.  Skate on.........

Thrilled......

This is the only picture I have handy of "Urban Reflections".  It was the first collaboration between Lu Peters and me last year.  This shot was at the 2009 Texas Federation of Fiber Arts exhibit.  We just got word that it has been accepted into the Tactile Architecture special exhibit at the 2010 Houston International Quilt Show  and will travel to other shows during 2011.  We're almost finished with our second collaboration and have picked fabric for #3.  Hope we're on a roll and I'll be happy to get back to my dyeing & printing.

Right now I'm involved with much less creative activity.  I'm having a sale this weekend.  There are lots of art materials, books, fabric and misc. stuff.  If you're in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area come by for the bargains.  You can email for directions.  Happy creating.
